Summary
The census provides data-driven insights into the representation of women in executive leadership across IDX200 companies.
The Census on Women in Executive Leadership Team (ELT) in IDX200 Companies (2022–2025) provides data-driven insights into the representation of women in executive leadership across IDX200 companies and highlights key trends and gaps that require continued attention. The census benchmarks women’s representation against 2019–2021 findings to assess long -term trends. Despite slight improvement over the past six years, progress remains too slow to materially shift Indonesia’s executive leadership landscape, making gender parity unlikely within the coming decades without stronger intervention
These findings offer an important reference for companies and stakeholders to better understand the current landscape and identify opportunities to strengthen women’s leadership pipelines. The report outlines key findings and trends on women’s representation in executive leadership, providing evidence to support more informed strategies and actions. It serves as a resource for companies seeking to advance gender-diverse leadership and foster a more inclusive and sustainable corporate landscape in Indonesia.
The census was conducted by the Indonesia Business Coalition for Women Empowerment (IBCWE) and Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) with support from Investing in Women. The census was originally published on the IBCWE website.
Highlights
Findings from 2022–2025 show that women’s representation in leadership across IDX200 companies remained largely stagnant, with no significant improvement from the 2019–2021 period.
- CEO seats remain male-dominated. Only 11 or 5% of IDX200 CEOs are female in 2025. This has slightly increased from eight female CEOs in 2021.
- The path to the top for women is narrowing and high rigid. Women are concentrated in functional roles and remain underrepresented in revenue-generating line roles where 100% of active female CEOs in 2025 ascended exclusively from.
- Female-led companies show a much stronger gender-balance outcome in 2025, with 55% having 30% or more women in ELTs and none having no female ELT. In contrast, only 17% of male-led companies reach 30% or more women in ELTs, while 44% still have no female ELT.
- Women representation in ELTs remain low. In 2025, only 16% of ELTs are women, largely similar to 15% in 2021.
- Healthcare (34%) and Consumer Cyclicals (25%) industries are showing a promising future for women’s representation. Basic materials industry remains at the bottom with 10% or lower representation.
