According to Social Norms, Attitudes and Practices Survey (SNAPS) findings, support for gender equality is often higher than people think across Southeast Asia. Yet belief alone is not enough to change behaviour. Structural barriers also need to be addressed.

In Indonesia, many young people living in urban areas agree that care responsibilities should be shared equally between women and men. But when it comes to childcare and housework, fewer practice it in everyday life.

When care responsibilities remain unequally shared and support systems fall short, women continue to bear the cost at home and in the workforce.

Care is not a private issue—it is an economic one.
