New on the Knowledge Hub: Reports on the impact of COVID-19 on the private sector in Indonesia, Vietnam, Myanmar and the PhilippinesNews /27 August 2020
COVID-19 has proven to be not only a global health emergency but also a threat to the global economy, resulting in the scaling down and closure of businesses, and unemployment. The pandemic has caused a contraction in economic demand and supply which has led to either limiter work hours or the retrenchment of workers around the globe .
Investing in Women commissioned reports on the impact of COVID-19 on private sector workers and employers in Indonesia, Vietnam, Myanmar and the Philippines to get a clear picture of the situation in each of its four target countries. These reports were prepared by Associate Professor Elizabeth Hill, Professor Marian Baird and Dr. Suneha Seetahul of the University of Sydney.
To gather data and insights on the direct impact of the pandemic on the private sector, employee and employer surveys were conducted in each country. The findings are presented in the reports, which have been published on the Knowledge Hub. Links are provided below.
