Consultant – Study on Financial Sustainability of Business Coalitions

19 February, 2019

Thank you for your interest in joining Investing in Women.

Since April 2016, we have been trialing innovative ways to tackle one of the most critical economic and social issues of our time: gender inequality. An initiative of the Australian government, we partner with businesses in the Philippines, Vietnam, Myanmar and Indonesia to influence workplace equality; with impact investors to expand women’s access to capital; and with a wide range of partners to change harmful social norms and gender stereotypes.

Our mission—to catalyse inclusive economic growth through increasing women’s economic opportunities in South East Asia—is at the heart of everything we do.

If you are interested in joining our small, dynamic team and applying your skills, experience and passion to this mission, we want to hear from you.

The Opportunity

This study will be carried out among four BCs in Myanmar, Vietnam, Indonesia and Philippines. The consultant will undertake a financial overview of income/expenditure for each BC, a desk review of financial sustainability models of organizations similar to the BC type of operation, conduct (telephone/Skype) interviews with BC staff, board members and stakeholders to identify current and potential business development strategies.

BC staff will assist the consultant in gathering information relating to local regulatory contexts and identifying allies/competitors in the local markets and identifying appropriate interviewees.

The Consultant will assess the current ability of each BC to become sustainable by 2023, including the ability of each BC to develop, market and deliver priced services which will meet their operational costs, and/or identify the likelihood of securing other sources of income.

The selected Consultant will develop a framework and business plan template for BC sustainability.
